Object as process

Since 2003, studio smarin has been exploring habits in our relationship with both objects and exchange.
We are interested in the object as a process.
Objects choreograph flows, work, behaviors and exchanges.
Developing an object contributes to giving shape to the world.
The choice of materials defines a landscape of extraction and transportation.
The scale of production conditions the form of work, and thus the living conditions of the workers involved.
The use of this object imposes a behavior: its solidity, its practicality, its playability, its power to distinguish or exclude.
As a result, a way of relating, of producing exchanges, a consumer network and a market are endlessly developed.
The object generates the world of our waste, which we must be able to transform again to maintain a balance.

smarin engages in exchanges with other disciplines - arts, sciences, sociology, politics, to address complete projects.
