The design collection of the Musée National d’Art Moderne comprises around 10,000 works by nearly 900 designers, from the early 20th century to the present. It traces the paths of designers, architects, and graphic artists who shaped the history of modernity and pioneered new aesthetic and technical directions. The collection also maintains a fertile dialogue with the museum’s modern and contemporary art, architecture, and photography departments.
Over the years, 8 object-tools and system-furniture pieces developed by smarin have joined the permanent collections of cultural institutions.
smarin's singular approach is based on a multidisciplinary team that independently designs, manufactures, and distributes its projects from its own workshop.
This autonomy serves as a tool for design research and independence. Since 2003, smarin has been exploring the notion of comfort and creating unconventional expressions centered on the flourishing of life.
smarin questions our habits and proposes new routines. The studio designs furniture, scenography, and layouts for public spaces.
With object-tools and system-furniture, smarin builds interactive situations and spaces for collective invention.
