Pathé Café Interior Design
At the heart of the Pathé Palace, a historic French cinema building recently renovated by architect Renzo Piano, smarin designed the interior of the Pathé Café. The aim was to extend the architectural quality of the site by creating a welcoming space in harmony with the rest of the building.
At the centre of the café stands a glass popcorn popper, designed as a direct echo of the Palace's architecture. Its shape reflects the archetype of the building, evoking its silhouette and the iconic dome crowning the corner of the structure. Inside, the constantly moving popcorn adds a lively and attractive dimension.
To enhance this central effect and highlight the popper, smarin designed a lighting system: lines of light arranged throughout the space converge towards this object. This setup illuminates the café while naturally guiding the eye to this iconic element.
Through this project, smarin offers a functional and distinctive design that respects the site's heritage while asserting a contemporary aesthetic and creating a clear landmark for visitors.
